About Nancy Gifford Knight Nancy Gifford Knight (1937- 2002) was a long time friend and supporter of the Center. The sister of the Center's Founder and Executive Director, Carolyn Johnson, she was a loving aunt to the three Johnson children, all of whom were adopted. Nancy, along with her husband Art and their three children, Arthur, Christopher, and Elizabeth, loved to hear about the Center, and provided many needed words of encouragement. Nancy never wavered in her belief that children need to grow up in permanent, loving families. Nancy earned her Associate's degree in Interior Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, New York; her Bachelor's degree from Trinity College, Chicago; and her Master's degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University, Chicago. A resident of Naples, Florida, and Lake Forest, Illinois, she served as a counselor and volunteer coordinator for a juvenile delinquent center, a hospice volunteer, and was a very active member of her church. Nancy's hobbies included tennis, floral arranging and mixed media art worksome of which is used to illustrate this website. Her loving touch, wisdom, warmth and faith was felt far and wide.
